Company: An established construction company.
Responsibilities:
- Directly reporting to the Executive Chairman & Managing Director/ CEO and the COO will be responsible to plan, oversee, manage, provide leadership and drive all hands-on day to day construction operational aspects, activities and functions at all construction projects undertaken by the Construction Company within a systematic approach in furtherance of the company’s objectives and group’s vision.
- The primary role of the COO is routinely one of operations management; responsible for the development, design, operation and improvement of the systems that create and deliver the company's products and/or services.
- The COO is responsible for ensuring that business operations are efficient and effective and that the proper management of resources, distribution of goods and services to customers, and analysis of queue systems is conducted.
- The COO will collaborate and work closely with the Executive Chairman & Managing Director/CEO to develop and accomplish goals and strategic plans established owners of the Company / Group. This role is to develop operational strategies and tactics, and is charged with facilitating these efforts across Operations.
- Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the Company / Group, the COO provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the Company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.
- Responsible for project implementation and control, construction methods, budget control, commercial and contracts procedures, quality and safety requirement and implementation.
- Responsible to ensure that all staffs, particularly the key technical ones are professionally managed, mentored and developed as part of performance management practice.
- The COO will facilitate collaborations of various groups within the organization to maximize ongoing operations.
- The COO person will develop strategic and professional relationships with customers, joint venture partners, vendors and sub contractors.
- The COO will develop management at all levels as needed to grow the company and meet succession plans.
- The COO will be actively involved in large projects being ultimately responsible for Bid reviews, Safety and identifying all potential business development opportunities.
- Responsible to ensure that all new projects are well researched and exhaustive consultation and involvement of all the stakeholders is undertaken in order to ensure quality products and profitable sale.
- The COO is responsible to routinely communicate and stress the company’s safety mission statement and culture through all operations and systems so that it infiltrates employee’s actions. Work with members of the safety staff to ensure their training needs are met for company and project specific requirements.
- Providing support and assistance to the Managing Director/CEO on corporate and group issues where required.
- Communicating with the Executive Chairman & Managing Director/CEO to ensure they remains fully informed of all significant operating issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in construction, civil engineering or a related field is required and a MBA is preferred but not required.
- Proven over 20+ years track record of experience in construction industry, progressing into senior management within large and top construction or engineering organisations especially specialised in the construction of high rise residential and commercial developments.
- Successfully completed at least above 8 full real estate development life-cycles and extensive operational experience and experience working on large sophisticated projects.
- Strong experience in handling all types of constructions projects such as Buildings and Civil Engineering projects and prior experience leading a large work force.
- Recent experience in Malaysia essential; overseas experience preferred.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of project delivery and technical disciplines within the team.
- Able to recognise limitations in process and seeks creative solutions.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast paced environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively. Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia is highly regarded.
- Strong organization, time management, and coordination skills.
