  • Oversees the daily accounting activities and supervising the accounting staffs on various issues encounter during the daily work.
  • Applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Perform month-, quarter- and year-end close procedures and routines, including: review and post journal entries; close accounting modules for Fixed Assets and close period; and maintain the chart of accounts.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close as well as timely reporting of all monthly financial information, financial statements and reports.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Review and maintain account reconciliations. Coordinate timely completion of reconciliation with other accounting departments.
  • Work with the Controller / Senior Manager to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like from others in the organization.
  • Assist the Controller / Senior Manager in the daily banking requirements.
  • Support budget and forecasting activities.
  • Collaborate with the other finance/accounts department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Interview, recommend, train, and initiate personnel actions as required.
  • Evaluate performance of staff. Recommend staffing requirements as necessary. Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advice on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Support the Controller/Senior Manager with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Supervise controls for accounting procedures and systems. Make and implement recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures.
  • Maintains organised set of detailed records and files to document financial transactions and ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures and prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts.
  • Manage tax returns, financial statements and period closings.
  • Produce financial reports and other related ad-hoc reports for management.
  • Financial audit preparation and coordinate the audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirement including audit, taxation and internal control.
  • Prepare and implement tax planning and liaise with auditors and tax agent. 
  • Liaising with other external parties such as company secretary, bankers, lawyers and government authorities on related job matters.
  • Playing a key role in the budgeting, forecasting and planning process.
  • Financial modelling, analysis and presentation of findings to senior stakeholders and executive team.
  • Preparation and review of the monthly business performance report and rolling 12-month forecasts.
  • Development and refinement of management accounting and reporting, including metrics/KPIs and enhanced business analysis.
  • Implementing the business strategy plan.
  • Undertake special assignment, ad-hoc function and related duties as and when necessary.
Qualifications

The following qualifications are desired to meet the requirements of this position:
  • Bachelor Degree from accredited university with major in Accounting & Finance or Professional Degree in Finance/Accountancy Management, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent.
  • Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) / CPA or any equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience and exposure from medium size or large property development company or/and retailing company.
  • Some working experience in handling audit and tax matters from an established public accounting firm.
  • Experienced in leading, motivating and supporting an accounting team.
  • Pro-active, result orientated and able to interact with people at all levels.

  • Preferably Managers specializing in Finance - Audit/Taxation or equivalent.
